Candle safety
- Never leave a burning candle unattended. Put it out before you leave the room or go to sleep.
- Burn for no more than 4 hours at a time. Let it cool for at least 2 hours before relighting.
- Let the first burn reach the edge. Burn it until the melted wax covers the whole surface, usually 2 to 3 hours. This stops it tunnelling and gives an even burn for the life of the candle.
- Trim the wick to about 5mm before each use, and clear away any trimmings or debris.
- Place it on a stable, heat-resistant surface. The concrete gets hot while burning, so don't move it until it has fully cooled.
- Keep it away from draughts and anything that can catch fire, and out of reach of children and pets.
- Stop when about 1cm of wax remains in the base.
- Avoid touching the wax. The fragrance may cause an allergic skin reaction. Wash your hands after handling, and rinse with water if wax gets in your eyes.
- Store it somewhere cool and dry. The wax softens at around 48°C, so keep it out of direct sun and hot cars.

How long does each candle burn?
Each 300g candle burns for 52 hours. Burning it in sessions of up to 4 hours, with a full first burn, gives you the most even burn and the longest life.
How strong is the scent?
Medium. You'll notice it as you walk into the room, then it settles into the background rather than taking over.
Which one should I choose?
Atlantic Breeze is fresh and clean, and suits a bathroom or hallway. Mountain Trail is bright and woody, made for the living room on a cold afternoon. River Alder is the warmest and calmest of the three, for evenings in the living room or bedroom. If you can't decide, the Drift Trio gives you all three for €85.
What are they made from?
A 70% soy wax blend with an 8% fragrance load and a cotton wick, poured into a concrete vessel. Each candle weighs around 1kg, so it sits solidly on a shelf or table.
Do they contain any animal ingredients?
No. The wax blend is made from plant extracts, with no animal ingredients.
Can I reuse the vessel when it's finished?
Yes. Once the candle has burned down, put it in the freezer for a few hours and the leftover wax will pop out. Wash it with warm soapy water and use it for small plants, pens or makeup brushes.
How should I store my candle?
Keep it somewhere cool and dry, out of direct sunlight. The wax starts to soften at around 48°C, so avoid sunny windowsills and hot cars.
Do they make a good gift?
Each candle comes in a kraft paper tube, so it is ready to give as it is. The Drift Trio splits into three separate gifts.
